Practice Policies

Phone Calls

Phone contact with the surgery is always welcome. Where immediate contact with your doctor may be disruptive to other consultations, our receptionist will give you the option to hold and speak to your doctor between consultations. Alternatively, arrangements will be made for your call to be returned at a more convenient time.

Results

In order to maintain patient confidentiality and to avoid misunderstandings and in the interest of good medicine, we prefer not to give results over the telephone. Your doctor will inform you when your results will be available so that you can make an appointment to discuss them and plan further treatment if necessary. Pregnancy tests and INR test results will be available over the telephone.

Repeat Prescriptions

In the interest of good medical care, your doctor will need to see you for a repeat prescription. Under special circumstances, our receptionist can check with the doctor whether it will be available without an appointment.

Referrals

To ensure the best management of your case, your doctor would prefer to discuss your condition with YOU before referral to a specialist. We are not permitted by law to backdate specialist referrals so please ensure that you have a current referral beforehand.

Certificates

Medical certificates are legal documents and are available only if you present for consultation with your doctor. The doctor is unable to issue medical certificates retrospectively.

Reminder System

Our practice is interested in promoting good health through preventative medicine. We may issue you with a reminder notice from time to time offering you preventive health services appropriate to your care. Please let our receptionist know if you do not wish to be part of this system.

Feedback

Your comments and suggestions about the practice are always welcome. If any aspect of your care has caused you concern we would like to be able to address it as quickly as possible. A Suggestion Box for your use is provided in the waiting room. Alternatively, you may write directly to the Practice Manager.

However if you feel the need to speak to a third party contact the Health Care Complaints Commission, Locked Mail Bag 18, Strawberry Hills NSW 2012.
